The quotation was said by Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626), an English philosopher, statesman, scientist, jurist, soldier, essayist and author, considered one of the fathers of the scientific method. This quote comes from his book "Novum Organum", published in 1620, where he writes that “the man who does not use the thoughts of other men” has no brains of his own. He goes on to say that if someone is rejected by other people for using their ideas then they are not using them properly and should read them again.
